Here is a interesting video I found. Please watch it before reading on:
When I first saw it, I actually believed it was real until right about the end (or am I too naive?). Of course the name was of someone else. If they removed the last screen asking you to trick your other friends, I guess that will make it all the more convincing.
Consumer Generated Media can be that of personalized videos, music, games that has already been created. Another good example would be the site JibJab (http://www.jibjab.com), where users can add their own faces and customize their greeting cards/videos.
Youtube has also introduced "speech bubbles" into their videos, which allow content owners and "video hackers" to add text on top of their videos. This potentially would lead to a number of "edited videos" where a single video clip can have tons of variations with many different speech bubbles.
If these customizations of these media are being publicly shared, then they have a chance to get viral. Brand owners would need to also actively monitor these customized CGM if they want to do a complete job of understanding who or what is taking about them.
I repeat… this is NOT a bl*g! A bl*g by definition is a web log which people write their down their thoughts for the world to scrutinize and comment on. Although kellychoo.com has features that resembles that, it does not mean that it is one. Is an Apple Mac Book Pro an Apple Mac Book? They share some resemblances but they are different in the end. That’s why the Mac Book Pros can sell for a premium over their little brothers.
